An extinct species in North America due to an extreme blight at the turn of the century, Chestnut is highly desired for its incredibly rich brown tones, as well as its relative scarcity. Chestnut's coloring can range from light tans to a deep chocolate tone. Dating back to the days of the first settlers, Chestnut has been used in many applications, including logs in early structures, sheathing, as well as joists and beams. Our Chestnut flooring is available in a variety of styles, including a fully milled finish to a more rustic look with original saw marks. Post-blight Chestnut also often has a generous amount of worm holes that make its antique character practically irresistible. Allegheny WoodWorks is a major purchaser of Chestnut lumber and maintains an excellent inventory and ongoing supply of this delightful wood.
